The Divine Word School of Semirara Island Incorporated,

the only Catholic School in the island of Semirara operating under the management of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) Philippine Central Province in partnership with the Semirara Mining and Power Corporation.

The institution, rooted on the values of Sts. Arnold Janssen and Joseph Freinademetz, seeks to build a Christian community engaging with great emphasis on effective environmental stewardship in the pursuit of sustainability, justice, peace, and the integrity of creation.

DWSSII offers basic education curriculum from kindergarten to senior high school. Equipped with cutting-edge facilities, our school is geared towards excellence by offering standard-based quality education, leveraging the use of technology in the teaching and learning process.

Since its humble beginning as a supervised school of Divine Word College of San Jose in 2003, DWSSII has progressed to become one of the leading schools in the island, catering to the children of SMPC miners and local residents.

Truly committed to its mission, DWSSII fosters a culture of missionary works, involving the entire community in prioritizing the welfare and development of its host community. Inspired by the Triune God, as one academic community, we witness to the Word.

Philosophy

The DWSSII is a community of teaching and learning engaged in transmitting knowledge and moulding the youth of Caluya. This belief is energized by a deep commitment and dedication to students, and by the consciousness of the School’s role in serving, and advancing the prospects of Semiraranhons in particular and the Filipinos in general. The School’s Philosophy of ” Center of Learning and new discovery in the pursuit of truth and wisdom” espouses its commitment to the Filipino at large, where a comprehensive academic and industrial education program is provided to the youth in order for them to be productive, dignified and fulfilled citizens and able to hold the self-esteem of future generations in the global community.

Mission

DWSSII commits itself to provide the students a Christian liberal education with technical and professional competence, development and enhancement of the spiritual, rooted on the gospel values, intellectual, moral, and physical capabilities of its members of the academic community through the generosity and support of the Semirara Mining and Power Corporation in promoting quality and relevant education and raising the level of environmental awareness and commitment.

Vision

DWSSII envisions an academic Christian community, working together towards the total development of the members and witnessing to the Word in the world, under the patronage of Saint Arnold Janssen and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

To attain its vision and mission, DWSSII has the following goals:

to build a community guided by a Christian value system that provides responsible and competent leaders for the nation.
to foster social awareness and responsiveness towards the social, economic and educational upliftment of the indigenous peoples, the marginalized and underprivileged.
to provide a general education that will develop the whole human person to become technically and professionally competent.
to advance skills and knowledge applying the latest trends in information technology that will make the individual an active, production and competitive participant of the global community.
to provide training in scientific principles, methods and attitudes to advance knowledge through research in order to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life.
to provide the manpower needs of the nation that will contribute towards economic progress.
to promote a deep sense of national identity, appreciation and preservation of our cultural heritage.
to actively participate in the protection, preservation, and conservation of a sustainable environment and to work towards the reduction and solution of ecological problems.
to foster harmonious relationship in the community through mutual respect of human dignity and belief, and protection of individual human rights.
